World's Largest Photograph
Click through for more information on the world's largest photograph.
The southern California premier exhibition of the World’s Largest Photograph - which is 3,375 square feet - will be at THE South Campus of Pasadena’s Art Center College of Design in the Wind Tunnel Gallery. Only a handful of museums in the world are large enough to display it. The Great Picture is a history-making gelatin silver photographic image three stories high by eleven stories wide. The $65,000 photograph was made using a shuttered Southern California F-18 jet aircraft hangar transformed into a gigantic camera obscura—the largest camera ever made.

Photo Exhibition: Reflections
Looking back at a pinhole camera photo show.
All together I had about 18 8×10 prints which consisted mostly of portraits that I took of other students at Iwate University. I also had a collection of 9 pictures that I took using a pinhole camera. For one 8×10 print, I was usually able to make about 2 of those prints a night in the darkroom.

Antjamie's Polaroid #20
MakingMy cube-mate thinks that the bottom images looks like a reflection in water. But it isn’t… I set the pinhole camera under the trees facing up. I think the effect is really nice. But they are a little dark - I think I left the pinhole open for too long. I was trying to figure out the timing because it was an overcast day.

The High School Pinhole
was flipping through my huge box of photos and I happened to find my old pinhole pictures that were taken during that first week of photo class in 11th grade. Our assignment was to make our own pinhole camera with an oatmeal box and then play around with exposure time and while doing this, learn about chemicals and the development process.

Simplest Camera Ever
Never underestimateIt was a school project he selected on his own - a pinhole camera. Although I’ve read and seen pictures taken with pinhole cameras, I’ve never used one, and despite understanding the theory, I was pretty skeptical that he’d be able to get anything more than some fuzzy grey shapes.

Film
Some good photography projectsI’m very happy that March is just over a week away. The weather we’ve been getting has been keeping me from getting out shooting much. I have a bucket full of ideas that need to be explored. One of them is trying to rig up one of my old cameras to actually shoot some film again. I haven’t shot film in over a year. I also have decided to make a pinhole camera this year. That might be a good project to keep me busy until I can get outside shooting again more regularly.

What I Wouldn't Give To Have My Camera Back...
From a photographer whose camera needs repairsBut, hey, a camera is a camera and I realized, recently, that, while a high-end camera helps with the quality of your photo, it doesn’t make you a photographer… I’ve always been able to get the best out of any camera I’ve owned - including the pinhole camera that I built back in 11th grade.

Pod Thoughts
I have been a big fan of table top tripods that are not limited to the table and have loved my compact Ultrapod 2, however, the newly released Gorillapod series of tripods attaches to almost anything. Joby makes 3 different sizes of these cute, not cuddly, Gorillapods, I’ve used them all and I have to say that I finally found the perfect one for me! The Gorillapod SLR Zoom holds a whopping 6lbs of camera goodness almost anywhere you go. See the below picture of my Zero Image 6×12F pinhole camera attached to a tree in upstate New York. I highly recommend using a cable release or the self timer in your camera when it is attached to the Gorillapod as some immediate shake can happen from depressing the shutter.

A Relationship Strained
This pinhole camera enthusiast prefersBecause the 30 deg F high today is going to be the warmest it will be all week, I took the opportunity to walk up to Gamma in order to drop of my recently completed roll of film from my pinhole camera. The camera takes 120 roll film and, given how poorly my last rolls of film faired at the hands of Wolf Camera (who sends it out to who knows where), I thought it better to let the professionals do the processing.

Depth Of Field Explained.
If you're wondering about camera basicsNext we move on to depth of field. This is actually a really simple term that just refers to how much of the image area is in focus. Pictures that have everything in focus are said to have a high depth of field, where pictures that have a small area in focus, and a lot of blurry back/foreground are said to have a narrow depth of field. The length (zoom) of the lens and the aperture are two of the biggest factors that determine the depth of field. With out getting too teched out, if you understand how a pinhole camera works, you will understand why a higher f stop (thus a smaller hole) creates a greater depth of field.
