Hard Disk Drive Changes

camera pmr hard disk drive New digital video cameras demand new hard disk formats.

New devices, such as hand held digital video cameras, are all demanding smaller drives that can hold more information. Toshiba was the first company in 2005 to ship a disk drive using PMR. This new technology offers an areal density growth path to 1 terabit or more. Only four companies are presently shipping hard disk drives with PMR. It is expected by the end of 2007 that there will be dozen of companies jumping on this new bandwagon.

Another CES In The Books

camera ces show Trying to keep up with all the new camcorder devices for consumers.

It’s getting easier for “just folks” to create high quality audio and video. CES saw scores of companies presenting their small form-factor HD camcorders, podcast kits, solid-state camcorders, and digital cameras. The result is a rising corps of people who are learning audio and video production, just as desktop publishing tools in the 1980s brought out an army of paginators and publication designers. As was the case with desktop publishing, 90% of the audio and video produced will be crap, but with so much to sample, we’re in for a great world of creativity and citizen journalism.

You can find a great selection of the latest camcorders and accessories at the Blog Carnival Store.
